Melanie Burns, PT
Melanie J. Burns, PT, DPT, PCS, CKTI, has been a Physical Therapist since 1998 and specializes in pediatrics in her practice. She received her Doctorate at Daeman College in 2006. Since becoming a CKTP she has been using Kinesio Taping on a daily basis with the children she treats. Melanie became a CKTI in 2014 after assisting for several years in Kinesio Taping Seminars. She has teaching and workshop experience in Kinesio Taping and numerous other areas such as Pediatric Outcome Measures, Torticollis, Adaptive Equipment and NDT. Melanie feels that the main basis for her treatment intervention has been the Neuro Developmental Treatment approach: using her hands to guide children's bodies into proper positions in order for the child to progress through typical developmental movement patterns. "My hands have been my best therapeutic tool as a therapist, and after having learned the Kinesio Taping Methods, I have used the Kinesio Tape as a second set of hands." As a pediatric physical therapist, she takes to heart her responsibility to provide the best possible treatment interventions to meet each patient's and each family's needs. Kinesio Taping is one way she fulfills that responsibility.
